“DNA’s intensive and varied style of training produces new leaders who have an understanding of the heart of the matter and how to apply it to a needy world. Theoretical study is combined with practical experience in a context of worship and ministry. Other Christian bodies could do well to look at their model. Long live DNA!”

Chawn Hill Church, Stourbridge
I am lucky to be working at my home church; Chawn Hill. After the first month I am enjoying my time here and am stuck in with various aspects of church life.
On Thursday and Friday evenings there are youth groups which are run by our New Generation Leaders (Ben and Emily). I help Ben and Emily plan, set up and run these events, which is a lot of fun and attempts to impact the young people that attend. Last week there was a cell social that ran throughout the day and into the early hours of the morning! We made bacon sandwiches for brunch, went for a walk (with various activities along the way, such as American football!), played laser quest, and then back to Church for x-box. This was a great way to develop relationships with the young people and to simply hang out. I am looking forward to being more involved in the youth groups and working with the youth team.
For the rest of the week I help out at the Blackcountry Foodbank, volunteering for one morning a week; admin and general work in the church office (last week we painted and decorated a room- looks lovely now!), and time for study and reflection.
On a Sunday I get to church for 9am to help set up for the morning service and at 6pm to help set up for the evening service. Getting involved with the worship band has been an excellent experience for me and I am excited to continue with this involvement over the year. Saturday is my day off and opportunity to relax and not do too much! So far it has been a good few weeks and even though I have attended this church for four years I am forming new relationships, experiencing new things and learning a lot.
