"DNA works so well because trainees are based in local church. Having DNA students around has been invaluable, as they have made all kinds of contributions to the life of the church. In return, church has been the perfect proving ground for their growth throughout the year."

Gerrard Street Baptist Church, Aberdeen

One of the main focuses of my time so far has been getting involved with a drop in cafe our church is setting up for isolated and vulnerable women in our local area, called ‘Wednesday Women’. I am part of the lead volunteer team for this and it has been challenging getting to grips with all the different aspects of setting up a ministry like this. However it has been incredible to see Gods favor in it all, in the way he has laid it on the heart of different women in our church to reach out and serve our local community in this way and in the way it has been received by professional services in the city. I look forward to seeing it flourish over the coming year, and seeing lives impacted and transformed by the love of Christ.

I have also been involved in our Student Ministry ‘Mobilise’. Aberdeen is home to two Universities and our church has and a thriving student community! As part of this ministry I have been involved in welcoming in the new students at the start of the new University year and welcoming back the returning students after their summer holidays! I host and lead a small group for around 12 students, one of my favorite things about this is spending time together over a meal at the start of the evening and sharing in each others lives. Through this ministry I am also involved in mentoring a couple of students and commit to monthly early morning prayer meetings!

J10 is our friday night kids club for P3-7. Here I am involved in preparing short and creative talks, getting to know the kids who come along, organising games, crafts and songs and silly warm up’s! Over the next year I hope to develop better relationships with the families of the kids who come along. Most of my ministry involvement is part of our outreach to the local area I hope and look forward to God using me more in this area over the coming year. It’s been a very fast month and challenging trying to learn how to manage my time well, but brilliant at the same time!
