"DNA is an extremely well orgamised outfit - efficient, reliable, disciplined, focussed and refreshingly uncompromising in discipling, connecting trainees with contemporary culture, enabling them to grow in character, experience Christian ministry and to understand /think theologically and biblically. This course is of high standard, carefully structured with the support given to the placement discipler and co-ordinator of an equally high standard. As a church, it also introduced us to a model for supporting trainees in ministry for the future."

Bishopbriggs Community Church, Glasgow
Hi, I’m Laura and I’m based at my home church at Bishopbriggs Community Church. Our church is a very friendly family orientated place that has a big heart for interacting with our surrounding community as well as being involved in outreach to other communities. They are very excited for me and have been a great support to me so far by praying, offering encouragement and giving financially.
Here’s what I’m involved in
I help with the running of my cell group and am also involved in doing the word and witness there. At cell we love to think about ways of being involved in the community and with this in mind they arranged a pub quiz (in an actual pub) which in turn raised money for my course.
I’m involved in the Youth Café which is run on a Friday night for high school kids. It’s really popular and well used by the kids in the community. The local kids as well as our church kids work along side each other in the running of the café in a hope of building up good relationships so as to introduce things like youth alpha (hoping to do this in January). On a Sunday morning I work with our youth (11-16 year olds) and I also do some detached schools work with BCM where we teach the gospel to un-churched kids.
I lead one of the small groups on Alpha every Thursday which is going really well. I love it so much that when the course finishes in January we will start another Alpha in the Glasgow City Mission who works with homeless people from the city. Again I will lead a small group there.
As well as all this I help with some administration work within the church.
Well that’s the story so far……
Laura
