Molesey Community Church, Surrey
Hi there, welcome to the Molesey page. We are Ellie and Jonny and have been placed in South West London near Hampton Court.
MCC is a group of people who desire to serve and live out their faith in the community with an emphasis on building relationships whenever and wherever. Although we meet for worship on a Sunday morning in a local school, it is the other activities that extend widely into the local area.
A vital component of the vision has been to use the Refresh Centre, in the centre of town, as a resource for the community, and is used as a café/fair-trade shop/children’s play area/computing suite. This is also used for Alpha course, various youth events as well as allocating area for church office. All in all this is a busy place where we spend a large chunk of our time.
Sports ministry is a huge vehicle for outreach in Molesey, with activities ranging from golf to cricket. However, the major focus is around football. Every Saturday morning, starting at 8am for setup, free kids football is run where you can regularly have between 70 and 90 kids attending. In addition 4 adult teams, including a Veterans team play throughout the season, and provides an amazing opportunity to building relationships with many who are playing for a church team despite never attending a church event.
We are also involved in working with another local church where we help with a baby and toddlers group as well as youth club for 8-13 year olds. During the year we shall be getting involved in various activities in Mike Pilavachi coming in May for a youth event in the area that shall involve lots of youth groups in the wider SW London area. There are other various activities that go on throughout the year including creative arts and drama, men’s groups (for Jonny only!), helping lead youth groups to Soul Survivor and Re:Act. Ellie shall be getting involved with worship as the year goes on, and we hope to run a 24/7 prayer event next Spring.
Overall, we have been blessed by coming to Molesey, where there has been such a sense of family amongst the people, with genuine love being shown by so many people.
