City Church, Aberdeen

This year I am based in Aberdeen - granite city and oil hot spot of Britain, at my home church City Church. Charismatic in nature, City is an evangelical Church involved with various different ministries in and around the city.

Here's what I'm up to on a weekly basis
  • Helping run a homegroup for vulnerable members of society.

  • A leader of City church’s youth group, running games, doing talks and leading small groups.

  • Being part of the Alpha course leadership team. Recently went on an amazing weekend away with the group to a countryside retreat.

  • Helping out at a drop in centre in one of Aberdeen’s more deprived areas.

  • Attending Street pastors training. Street pastors are an inter-denominational Church team who are a response to urban problems, engaging with people on the streets to care, listen and dialogue. Soon I will be out on the streets of Aberdeen, spending time with people who are out on a Friday night. I’m looking forward to the challenge…

  • Helping lead the church’s children group on Sunday mornings. Involved in drama, bible teaching in game co-ordination.

  • Aiding the office with all things administration!

I'm also involved in the following events/activities on a less regular basis

  • Corporate Prayer
  • Prayer breakfast
  • Pastors lunch
  • Sunday service welcome team
  • Sunday service prayer ministry
  • School assemblies. Doing drama, bible teaching, games and worship in front of masses of primary school kids!

So far it’s definitely been challenging and there’s been so many new experiences that have already stretched my faith. But being in the safe hands of friends and leadership around me has helped me find my feet. Getting to know church members on a much deeper level has also been great and I’m looking forward to a further development of friendships. Let the journey with Christ continue!
