Soul in the City

I heard about Soul in the City three years ago when it was announced at Soul Survivor and as it came a year after Manchester 2000 which I took part in I looked to it with incredible excitement. So when I got there I had three years of anticipation and, as ever, God not only did not let me down, but He far exceeded my expectations.
At
St Paul’s recreational ground, Brentford we were involved with children’s work at social action, including painting fences and the playground and trimming trees and sweeping up leaves and rubbish, and although there were no people radically saved there was a general appreciation from passers by thanking us for our work. This was clearest when at the end of the week we had a barbeque and up to two hundred people came and enjoyed the atmosphere.
For me as small team leader the highlight was definitely the team I was co-leading as they were always happy to get stuck in and even when the rains came in and we had to stop they kept their enthusiasm and often had to be firmly told to stop working!
Then to top an incredible week off we went to the celebration at Trafalgar Square and was totally blown away by the fact that thousands of people had gotten together in the very heart of London to thank God and give Him all of the credit for what has undoubtedly been a life changing week for many, many people.
