On the 20th May a team of 10 DNAers set off for Norway to spend two weeks working with a church south of Oslo called ‘The Power Plant.’ Our aim was to support the church by both encouraging individuals within the church and to work to improve the church’s relationship with the community. This included: painting a house, spending time with children, praying with families in the church, and for the community: prayer walking and a week taking English lessons at different schools.
Throughout the two weeks it was amazing to see God touch people’s lives as we had the privilege of praying with many of the people from the church and the youth groups we went to. On two occasions we went to both a high school and a college to hang out with the students and give out free waffles. On both days some members of the team were able to share their testimonies with the students, it was amazing how God provided these opportunities in such a natural way. At the college we sought to listen to what God was saying for the different people whom we saw or afterwards went to look for. This was challenging, but it was incredible to understand more of God’s love for people as we went with Him to speak to them.
The highlight for me from my time spent in Norway was having the chance to pray with so many people and listen to what God was saying to them. I feel that God enlarged my heart for people as I tried to understand them and see how God sees them. I have also grown in confidence as a result of talking to strangers in the college and schools. Everybody in the team was stretched and challenged but also had a huge amount of fun fun. God was also impacting the team throughout the week and a few have left with a love for the country. From our time in Norway we found that God used us so much out of our unity, and out of working together we managed to have an affect of peoples lives.
