Kairos 2010

I went into Kairos not having a clue what to expect, I’d been at Spring Harvest the week before and to be honest I really didn’t want to be there I’d much rather sleep for the week! I’d only signed up for it because of all the glowing reviews of past trainees. However having done it I am so pleased I did! As it has genuinely changed my Christian life!

So what actually is Kairos? Several months ago I would have said it's something about mission and being a missionary. While this is sort of true it's about so much more! Kairos looks at mission right back to it’s Abrahamic roots all the way back in Genesis 12, tracing God's heart for mission all the way through the rest of the bible. It was a week of revelation and I have to say the whole bible makes a great deal more sense now having done Kairos! I’m sure many of you are wondering what the word Kairos is all about. It’s the Greek for “now time” or “for such a time as this” which sums up a lot of what Kairos is about.

God spoke to me an awful lot through Kairos, it was a real wake up call. Jesus gave us the great commission 2000 years ago, its pretty clear in what we’re to do but yet we still haven’t done it! It was also a massive challenge to my own prayer life, every day we set aside some time to pray for the unreached people groups of the world, something I hope to continue with! Kairos talks a lot about top line and bottom line blessing. How God has blessed us in order that we might be a blessing to all other people. It was a real challenge to pray about blessing others that God might bless them too.

Coming out of Kairos I feel really fired up for God, really passionate to go out and do my bit to bring glory to his name and to see people of every nation, colour and tongue praising the name of Jesus! God has given me massive dreams to see the world changed by the love of Jesus! That it is possible if we, as the body of Christ, step up to the plate and live for Jesus 100%!

I can’t recommend Kairos enough, whether you feel called to mission or not, do it you wont regret it!!
