Clare Seek - what did DNA mean to you?

In all honesty, I probably opted to do DNA after University as a way of putting off the nightmare of deciding what on earth I was going to do next. I figured that at least it would give me a chance to have a bit more time to think about it and I hoped God would say something LOUDLY that would narrow down the options.

I got a lot more than I bargained for!

I found out what it really meant to have my foundation in God and not what I did or could achieve. I made some great friends, a lot of whom I’m still in contact with and continue to impact my life. I received some brilliant theological and practical teaching. And I had more experiences and stories than I knew what to do with when it came to dazzling people in interviews.

I left the year not knowing what I was doing next, although I knew the type of doors that I needed to push. I had a strong heart for the business world, and this had developed further during the year. I started pushing doors, and one flew wide open….I ended up working in Marketing at IBM. The lessons I’d learned on DNA stood me in good stead, and it was great to put them into practice.

Redundancy loomed after four years, and again my DNA lessons helped me face the challenges of rejection and of getting up each morning. Two months later and I’m on the road to setting up my own business. Life is never dull with God!

All in all, DNA was a great year for finding out more about who I was, and what God thought of me, and was calling me to. It’s also given me a blueprint from which to carry on developing myself, mainly in the areas of accountability, discipleship, hearing from God, and outworking my faith in day-to-day life. If you're thinking about taking the plunge and giving a year to God and DNA, my advice is to get on with it, and be open to all God has for you!

You'll get a lot more than you bargained for, or your money back ;-) (That guarantee is not endorsed by DNA).
